What is iTeXMac?
iTeXMac is at the same time a text editor, a pdf viewer and a teTeX frontend. It allows to produce very high quality documents using TeX typesetting system.

What are TeX, LaTeX, ConTeXt?
TeX is a typesetting system created by Don E.Knuth to write higher quality mathematical texts. It uses macro packages named Plain, LaTeX, ConTeXt...

What is teTeX?
teTeX is a set of UNIX tools, programs and resources used to typeset documents, manage bibliography databases, document indexes, graphics formats. This distribution is elaborated by Thomas Esser and ported to Mac OS X by Gerben Wierda. iTeXMac needs a teTeX distribution to run either Gerben Wierda's or fink's.

How can I get Help for iTeXMac?

- me

How can I get Help for TeX, LaTeX, ConTeXt?
iTeXMac provides quick access to the documentation and help files available in your teTeX distribution. Key words for a web search are CTAN (Comprehensive TeX Archive Network), (La)TeX Navigator
and others...

How can I get Help for teTeX?
iTeXMac provides quick access to the teTeX Help files available with your distribution. Following topics are discussed by G. Wierda there

How do I set paper size Letter in TeX?
* How do I set paper size A4 in TeX?
* Paper size value is "not in list"?
* Hey! Your distribution is broken!
* Help! TeX cannot find my file!
* Help! TeX says it is "stymied"!
* Help! TeX says there is a problem with a "pool" file!
* Where is xDvi? Why does ghostscript not display my .ps file?

What can I do with my .ps files?
You can view your PostScript and Encapsulated PostScript files using iTeXMac. You can either
- Launch iTeXMac, choose Open from the file menu, select the document type (Image) in the pull down button and browse to your file.
- drag and drop your file's icon on iTeXMac icon
- double click your file's icon if iTeXMac is declared as the default application to open .ps files

This will convert the PostScript file to PDF format, then show the file with the preferred viewer, either built in or external.

You can save or print the pdf result.

What can I do with my .dvi files?
You can view your Device Independant files using iTeXMac. You can either
- Launch iTeXMac, choose Open from the file menu, select the document type (Image) in the pull down button and browse to your file.
- drag and drop your file's icon on iTeXMac icon
- double click your file's icon if iTeXMac is declared as the default application to open .dvi files

This will convert the .dvi file to PostScript file then to PDF format using altpdftex, then show the final result with the preferred viewer, either built in or external.

You can save or print the pdf result.

If you want to convert a dvi file into PostScript format, you can modify the parameters of the render.project: Open this project located in
"~/Library/Application Support/iTeXMac/General/"
edit the render parameters, and use the modified command
altpdftex --keep-ps ${iTMInput}

My project does not save my parameters
This is normal for Generic Projects: you can change parameters but you cannot save the change from the save menu item. If you really want to permanently modify a generic project, use save as instead of save.

Everything works, except FrogKing
FrogKing uses an eps image, so you must compile it with altpdflatex. If you want to include ps or eps file and still use pdftex, you will have to previously convert your file in pdf, to do so just try to open then in iTeXMac.
